Rules and More

The 3 R’s in our Classroom:
In order for our classroom to run smoothly, safely, and effectively it is important to establish rules.  Listed below are our classroom rules which will help students to understand what the expectations are for behavior our classroom:
1.    Be Ready
We will be prepared to learn in our classroom.  This means listening to directions, promptly gathering our materials, and being in our spot on time, prepared to work.
2.   Be Respectful
We will be considerate of others in our classroom.  This means keeping our hands to ourselves, our voices at an appropriate level, and listening quietly when it is someone else’s turn to talk.
3.   Be Responsible
We will be focused on safely completing our own tasks.  This means keeping our area neat, putting our materials away, interacting or moving around in a safe manner, and concentrating on our work not what others are doing.

I use Class Dojo to help encourage positive student behaviors.  Students are able to earn points for positive behaviors.  At the end of each week, students can cash in their points for DOJO Bucks.  They can save their bucks to spend on coupons, rewards, and at the monthly DOJO Store.

When students are making poor choices, they will receive a warning and then be charged a "fine" if the behavior continues.  They will pay their fines from the DOJO Bucks they have saved.  Logical consequences and positive language are used when consequences for poor choices are necessary.  If students choose to continue a behavior after paying a "fine" and a consequence is necessary, the incident will then be logged into Jupiter Grades and parents/guardians will receive a notification of the incident via text or email.
